What do you get when you combine a global pandemic, loss of clients and doing an absolutely terrible job at teaching your pubescent son during lockdowns? You get someone who wants to make the jump from a writing career to being in security. Listen to me speak about how I managed to transition and my message to other mature wāhine of colour who want to enter the world of infosec.
Māori wahine (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei) in her mid-to-late 30s who has made the jump from being a writer and social media consultant to the arena of security. Self-confessed infosec policy nerd with subpar Python skills and a deep hatred of subnetting, but makes a mean curry. Currently in the last throes of their cybersecurity study at uni. Also a mother to a human and a cat. Autistic and ADHD. Pineapple belongs on pizza.
